Recess depth and obstacles

Measure only the clear usable space.

Start at the front inside edge and stop at the nearest handle, lock, screen, sash or trim that occupies the recess.

  • Open the window through its full movement.
  • Record the clear depth in inches or centimeters.
  • Take front and side photos if anything enters the space.

Common mistake: measuring the full sill instead of the unobstructed recess.

Measuring questions

Why measure three points?
Openings are not always perfectly square. The smallest width and smallest height are saved to the order.
Can I use centimeters?
Yes. Choose centimeters in the product configurator and keep every reading in centimeters.
What if a handle projects into the recess?
Record the clear depth, select the obstruction in the configurator and expect a request for front and side photos before production.
